Data & editorial changelog

A dated record of material changes to PlainElderCare data presentation, methodology, and editorial framing. Entries are verified against git commits and our database's own change log only — we do not invent or backfill history.

How this record works

We add an entry when a material correction, source-handling change, or methodology revision reaches the public site. We do not backfill an entry without a corroborating commit or database record. To report a possible error, use the contact page with the page URL and the value that looks off; the full policy lives on our corrections process page.

  1. Home health agencies joined to counties by ZIP code

    CMS Home Health Compare does not publish a county field for its agencies. County pages now backfill county assignment via a ZIP-code join against the county reference data, so county pages that previously showed nursing homes only now also list the home health agencies serving that county (portal commit 89ca47d).

  2. Research page title corrected to match its own cited source year

    A research article’s title said "(2025)" while its methodology, sources section, and citation all correctly referenced the 2024 CareScout Cost of Care Survey, a same-page year contradiction. The title was corrected to match the page’s own consistent 2024 source vintage (portal commit f1854a0).

  3. Fabricated "private nurse" care category removed

    Removed a "private nurse" care type that was not a real CareScout survey category, it had been entered at $444/month, implausibly cheap for what would be the most expensive care option, with no annual figure. Fixed at the database source (not just on the page), the count of care types updated from six to five everywhere it was referenced, and several other hardcoded or stale figures on the homepage and rankings pages were corrected to live database values in the same pass (portal commit c3cefd3; _metadata data_fix:remove_private_nurse).

What is not a changelog entry

A routine CMS or CareScout data refresh with no publisher-side correction is not logged here as its own entry — each data page already shows its own source and vintage date, and those labels are the record for ordinary refreshes. This changelog tracks material corrections and structural changes only.
